In his film Nonstoppampam (1992) the Finnish experimental filmmaker Seppo Renvall put a revolver in the hands of his friends and urged them to pull the trigger. The result, a triptych with editings of clumsy gun amateurs, forms a nice metaphor for his whole oeuvre, of which most can currently be seen at the Kunsthalle Lophem. Renvalls films are shooting exercises. The viewer does not have to see but feel the images. Maneuvering in between three simultaneously used projection walls the viewer behaves like a prey: he moves, walks away? or stops and quietly stares.
